Much to the reluctance of the lazy members of the Household of the Ruslans, a cleaning-rearranging session was organized today by Mother to make the room that is largely believed to be mine - I say largely believed to be because I don't live there, never did and hopefully never will - a more habitable locale.
So we toiled. Bunch of magazines, sorted, relocated, discarded. Things which didn't belong. Things that did belong but were thrown anyway. Rearrangement is a chore that kills off life and sanitizes the sentimentality of location. But in the end, it turned out fine. The bed's small and childishly-decorated (which is fine, because that's probably how it's going to be and stay) and the parents seem to want to evict me from my lofty spot in the master bedroom. Grah!
I like the lofty spot. I like the bed. Its size. The good vibe coming from the room. The room I am being pressured to occupy is dark, danky, and for some reason smells of oppression. An oppressive climate, if you will. The only windows there point outside to the back, whereupon the only thing to look at are a mass of trees. My old room, which Roslyn now holds as her barony, had a rather nice view of the neighbor to our right, though I never bothered looking and I think the only real highlight was when that kid was flashing to us naked in the window, waving.
So now I have a new old room.
Jan seemed to like the old layout. We had a computer table next to the big red L-shaped sofa, and throughout the last fourteen weeks that my computer has spent in Room 404 instead of 11A, Villa Sri Ukay, Jan had taken to sleeping under the computer table. We'd expected him to be annoyed. Nah, to him he'd just find another wall to hide and slide behind. That's Jan for you. Adaptable, if nothing else.
What makes your best friend so special?

The Champions Youth Cup [http://www.thechampionsyouthcup/] is a major club youth-level tournament. And it's coming to Malaysia. Manchester United, bless them all, are among 16 teams in this tournament (among no less prominent names such as Porto, Milan, Arsenal, Chelsea, and others) and they're being led by Youth Academy Director Brian McClair. Ooh. Brian McClair. Now that's a big name.
Such household names such as Febian Brandy, Daniel Drinkwater, and Ron-Robert Zieler are all going to be there. You might ask how I know such names, well - Football Manager tends to help you out there. I would very much like to see them. The tournament's in Malacca and it's only RM12 for two matches. Too bad United aren't playing the days I can go. But I can't find days which I can - at least not for the United matches.
GAH! I want to go. It's only RM12. It's only twelve ringgit!

In other news, I have succeeded in not biting my nails in over a week. I am most proud of my achievements, and so should you (this has been an unfortunate habit of mine for the last five or six years).

In other news, we had a presentation today. For some reason unknown to all of us (possibly a heckload of distraction) we decided to talk about Breakfast. Break-freaking-fast.
It was whole-heartedly awesome.

Thank you for sticking this far with the blog of Amirul B Ruslan. I will reward you now: have a photo.
That's right. Just as we were about to end our defeated hopes of
finding Jan, he waltzes in the house, looking like the dramatic little
lagomorph he is, yesterday evening. When interviewed, all he has to show for his great
disappearance is a nervous shake in his walk. No doubt he had dodged
the manifold threats that surround his tranquil island of 11A, Villa
Sri Ukay. From canine predators who knew very well our daring explorer
would make a splendid snack, to freakish mechanical behemoths moving at
speeds he could only imagine (Cars, then), to even unknown ones
such as the occasional snake or cat, Janis treated them with the
disdain required of a great navigator.
The motivations for why he did it are unknown, and it may very well remain unknown forever. Perhaps he just took out his map and his explorer's cap - I mean, what great navigator doesn't have a hat? - and found that across the corners of uncharted land in his map were the words Here Be Dogs, Cars And Snakes. A challenge like that simply can't be ignored. So off he went. You may use the word escape, but I'll take something like adventure or experience.
Except, Jan, the next time you do this, please tell us first.

If You See A Pink-Collared, Brown-Patched Rabbit Making Detailed Analyses Of Your Lawn:
- You may not believe this, but Jan has magic powers. Phear (alternatively, feer) his magic powers. Chronicled so far is his apparent superspeed ("celerity"), and reflexive contagious cuteness ("cuteness"). Here are detailed photo evidence:
- See! Speed. And cute. Beware.
- You may want to feed him, but this is often a pointless task involving Bugs Bunny stereotypes and the extremely refined palates of great explorers. Bread, however, almost always works.
- Picking up rabbits is generally a bad idea, but it's a lot worse in his case. Just don't. An expert practitioner of claw-fu, even the slightest exposure to his madskillz will result in some cuts, bleeding and A LOT of cursing. Certain experts in this field however may attempt to move our dangerous exponent, but no success can be guaranteed.
- Many years studying claw-fu and multiple variants in the ancient temple of ninjas have taught him EXTREME UBERSTEALTH!!!!!one!!! It is theoretically impossible to sneak up on this rabbit.
- If you do see him, and have arrogant thoughts thinking capture is still possible, you might want to leave a comment on my Voxblog. I will send in the proper ambulances to treat your sorry ass.
- Let him be. EXTREME UBERSTEALTH!!!!one!!! and five-dot claw-fu makes him tough already. He needs no human, except for food and love.
Missing. One white rabbit. Responds to the name "Jan", "Janis", "Jan Michael Vincent" (?!), "You horrible cable eater." Notoriously cute. Displays high intelligence. Mute (except for some occasional angry sniffing). Limping on one foot (the left one, just like owner).
Identifiable marks - thin brown "eyebrows" just above the eyes, brown patches of fur, one dark brown "line" going across his --
What the hell was that?
Dogs outside. Barking. Possibly over Jan? I can only hope not.
So! I'm uploading six parts of a sixty-five part RAR file. As we speak. This has gone on for about three hours. I think something's gone wrong. I'm cancelling that. Screw it, I'm going to send the files two-by-two.
Jim just went online. That's like a first in a long time. Alas, he still hasn't updated his blog.
Tomorrow I might just attend that "badminton tournament" at my ex-school. Sure I will. I can't walk, let alone go to school. But Mom says it's important to cheer Roslyn on. Roslyn can probably pwn everybody there. Or not. Cause she's going against Nissa, so I hear.
Also! JAN HAS EATEN MY HEADPHONE CABLES. Those were special headphones! My godmother Aunty Mary and her husband Uncle Asri got it for my birthday this year. OF ALL THE EARPHONES IN THE WORLD!
Blargh! Jan.
Who are the most frequently mentioned people on your Vox blog?
Submitted by Amirul B Ruslan.
And so continues the horrible trend of writing self-indulgent, self posts on his own QotDs. OK. Let's review who they are. Obviously, the top three would be:
Him.
His Royal Highness, Lord of all Bread, Cookies and Electric Cables, Sovereign Regent of Upstairs and Baron of the Patio, Garden and Downstairs; he of Confused Genders (not after March, though).
Jan. Though the "official" line does not say so, I still state that his full name is Janis Joplin (as we all did when Jan was still believed to be a girl).
In anycase, Janus is a fine enough guy's name, being the two-faced Roman god.
Him. And we know all pictures of him MUST obscure the face. He has Obfuscate 5, that Shafiq.
After an accidental mention in an MSN chat:

I was going to tell you that! |

to have the most mentioned in your blog to be a guy |
And her.
This is the sister. Her birthday is November 14. According to her - though often she will not admit this - her entire life has been a marathon race trying to compete with her older brother (AMIRUL B RUSLAN!) 's
Also, Roslyn is the unfortunate victim of all the trivia I have soaked up through my many years of reading.

And lastly, Jazym Kem. If I ever had a comrade for life, it'd be him. He pwns the world, but even he needs game cheats. What a n00b. His blog is the number one source for I'm Going To KL This Week news. Doubtlessly, this Penangite often comes but so un-often-ly visits us in the Ruslan household.
He doesn't go online much because he NEVER gets that wireless uplink from some guy in the apartment building. But maybe one day he'll get Streamyx or something, and then he'll go on more and write a bit more on his personal life, because that's what all blogs are for.
He's also most well-known for pooh-poohing Regina Spektor in our car in our last visit to Penang (March - didn't write about it? Sorry) And also for making a big fuss over buying a copy of FHM. "Why?". "Because there's Sarah Tan on it." Okay.
Of course, there are other candidates. Emily (5 years ftw) is often mentioned, and so is Samantha (despite the fact that I've only chatted with her like, what, four times?). That pretty much sums up the current small sphere of influence I command. Feel the love. I need to siphon some off before I receive more, after which I may well explode.
Eh. Did I miss anybody? PROBABLY.
-EDIT- Yes! I forgot Jim! Now he's added.
Watched Syriana (and found it rather good), hobbled around on one foot, downloaded Last.fm.
That's about it. Jan went to the vet for the follow-up injection in the afternoon but I couldn't go.
Also, I've got some songs off Super Extra Gravity I didn't notice. Slow I've had for awhile, but Give Me Your Eyes is new to me and pretty damn good. More Nina Persson! More! The only person who I'd want more-r of is Cami Elen, and DV4 (and the DVDVD) should be out one of these years.
